The electric vehicle from the Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi SU7, caused a stir in the tech market. However, its selling prices and availability are not true. We’ll look at the details in this article.
Xiaomi SU7: What real information is there about availability?
Two doubts come with every new tech device: the price and the release date. These terms are even more important when it comes to the launch of a new electric car. And in the case of Xiaomi SU7, the selling price was precisely the subject of a lot of information leaks throughout 2023.
Even though we don’t have official information from Xiaomi about the sales start date, there are certain clues. After all, we could find out the selling price at one of the major auto events in Beijing—this April.
The leaks point to the Beijing International Motor Show or Auto China, meaning the event that takes place every two years in Beijing. And since 1990, this auto show has been considered one of the three most important in the world. This year it will take place from 25 April to 4 May 2024, and that’s where fans of the brand could learn more about the configurations. But what does Xiaomi say about that?
Is it true?
According to the Gizmochina website, Xiaomi clarified the information leaks about the delivery date of the Xiaomi SU7, stating that the vehicle’s price and delivery schedule “will depend on conditions in the relevant industry in the near future.” However, it also warmly advises its customers to ignore the speculation until an official statement is released.
The Chinese company also made use of the space to deny the claim about a new investment of 54 billion yuan (€7 billion) in its Beijing factory. The real investment after the vehicle is brought to market will not exceed 100 – 120 billion yuan from the original establishment (12.8 – 15.4 billion euros). Rumours about an additional investment have therefore been refuted and labelled as false.
Two different range values for the Xiaomi SU7 models
The SU7 will be delivered with two battery options. The standard version offers a range of 668 kilometers. And the SU7 Max, model with the larger battery pack then goes up to 800 kilometers.
That means it also beats the Tesla Model Y Long Range in value. The vehicle also supports 800 Charging, which will offer 220 km for just 5 minutes of charging, or 510 km in 15 minutes.
