XRING O1

Xiaomi has officially announced its first mobile processor called XRING O1, putting it among the exclusive club of tech giants that design their own chips — alongside companies like Apple, Samsung and Google.

Lei Jun made a breakthrough announcement. Xiaomi has its own chipset

This groundbreaking update was delivered personally by Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun, who wrote on social media: „I have one message for you: Xiaomi-developed smartphone chip, XRING O1, will be unveiled at the end of May. Thanks for your support!“ These are exciting news that could mean Xiaomi becomes even more independent from other companies.

It’s important to note that Xiaomi designed the chip itself, but will still need a manufacturing partner, such as Taiwan’s TSMC (not confirmed yet). However, this applies to the competing giants we mentioned in the introduction as well.

The first smartphone with XRING O1 will be available only for China

With the chipset reveal came details about the first smartphone that will be powered by XRING O1. It will be a flagship aimed at the premium market segment.

According to available information, the upcoming phone should come with a 6100 mAh battery and a 50 MP rear camera. On the back, there will be a total of three cameras, plus a 6.73-inch Quad HD+ display (3200 x 1440 px).

The device’s internal label is “dijun” and it carries the model number 25042PN24C. Our first disappointment, however, is that the smartphone will be available exclusively on the Chinese market. This more conservative approach can still help Xiaomi fine-tune the first generation of its own chip.

More than 10 years of development and billion-dollar investments

During his emotional speech at Xiaomi Values Competition, Lei Jun emphasized that XRING O1 is the result of more than a decade of research and development.

About 105 billion Chinese yuan were invested in R&D (Research and Development) over the last 5 years — which is roughly more than €13 billion. And this year alone, investment in research of around €3.7 billion is expected.

In his address, Lei Jun looked back at the company’s 15-year journey: „A strong wind tests the strength of grass; a long road tests the strength of a horse,“ he said figuratively to highlight Xiaomi’s resilience and persistence on its path to innovation.

These updates underscore the commitment of the Chinese giant Xiaomi to move even higher up the global technology ranking. With the XRING O1 chipset, the future Xiaomi has planned for a decade is here. So we’re very curious what kind of smartphone will come with this chipset.

Get involved in developing the Xiaomi brand too: how can you buy their stock?

If you want to be part of the Xiaomi brand directly and take part in their development, there’s no better way than buying shares in this company yourself.

We also bought several Xiaomi shares ourselves back in 2021 and 2022, when the shares were down. Since then, the shares have been growing—in our portfolio they’re already adding a solid 316% profit. Personally, we buy Xiaomi shares with the broker eToro, which is a popular European platform for buying stocks and ETFs. As of May 15, 2025, eToro is even a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq stock exchange, which gives it even more credibility.
