If you’ve been following what’s going on around Xiaomi and its Redmi sub-brand, you’ve probably already noticed that Redmi is planning its summer conference at the end of this month. It has already been confirmed that they’ll unveil their brand-new smart TV with a 70-inch display.

Today we learned more official details – besides the smart TV, the brand will also reveal other devices that caught us by surprise.

Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro confirmed!

Yes, on August 29, together with the Redmi Smart TV, we’ll get a new generation of the Redmi Note 8 smartphone! The brand officially confirmed the launch this morning via new posters it shared on its Weibo profile.

In total, up to 3 smartphone models will be unveiled. We can say for sure it will be Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. The name or marking of the third model hasn’t been specified yet. However, Redmi has shared a few photos revealing the design of the back, or rather the cameras.

4 cameras led by a 64 MPx sensor

We already know that the new “eights” Note will come with the recently introduced 64 MPx Samsung sensor, with Xiaomi also involved in its development. For a quick refresher, it’s the Samsung GW1 sensor with a size of 1/1.7″. The photos will be captured at a resolution of 9248 x 6936 px.

The photos also reveal two more sensors, but their specifications are not known yet. One of them will most likely be an ultra-wide lens, while the other will be a telephoto lens. You also can’t miss the fingerprint sensor, which this time will be placed on the back.

On closer inspection, though, we spot another sensor – it’s located just below the LED flash. Most likely it will be a ToF camera (Time of Flight), used for example to measure distance through the camera using augmented reality. A similar sensor is included in, for example, the premium Huawei P30 Pro.

Quick global unveiling

Now for something from the unofficial scoop. A fairly well-known Xiaomi leaker active on Twitter under the nickname „Xiaomishka“ has already done it several times and has correctly predicted the arrival of future Xiaomi smartphones. This time, he managed to find out more details about the not-yet-unveiled Redmi Note 8.

According to his info, a global unveiling of Redmi Note 8 will happen very soon. The global version has the model designation M1908C3JG, which matches the still-fresh information from the FCC certification authority. The Redmi Note 8 Global launch is expected to take place already in September.

Two generations of Redmi Note smartphones in one year

Since Redmi split off from its parent Xiaomi back in January, the brand has chosen a truly aggressive strategy. Besides smartphones, they’ve started making not only affordable electronics for various purposes, but also other products for everyday life.

Redmi Note 7

It’s interesting to see how Redmi decided to continue the Redmi Note series. This year’s first model, Redmi Note 7, was unveiled in January and it has already managed to reach 20 million sold units on the global market.

Maybe thanks to its high popularity, the manufacturer decided to introduce the next generation—i.e., the Redmi Note 8—already this year. We’re very curious what the new model has in store for us, and what else the manufacturer will prepare for us later this year. Be sure to follow Xiaomi Planet and you’ll stay in the loop.
