Quick summary

  • Global 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are on Geekbench AI
  • Both ran on Android 17
  • The tested units had 12 GB RAM
  • The global release date is not available yet

Xiaomi introduced 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China on September 23 and promised right that day that the lineup would also come to the world. Now, the global versions of both phones have appeared in the Geekbench AI database. The results were added on October 9.

The trailing G letter reveals the global version

The smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro is listed in the database as 2609BPN61G, and the larger 18 Pro Max as 2611FPNFAG. The G at the end of the model name has indicated Xiaomi’s global versions for years. Both units ran on Android 17, which is also the base for HyperOS 4 in Chinese models.

Geekbench showed just under 11 GB of available memory on both phones. So this is a version with 12 GB RAM, since the system keeps part of the memory for itself. In China, both models are sold with either 12 or 16 GB. The 16 GB version could also make it to the global market, but it’s not in the database yet.

The chip database didn’t name it; it only showed the core clock speeds

The database lists the processor only generally as Qualcomm ARMv8. However, the core clocks are the same on both phones: three cores run at 3.74 GHz, the next three at 4.03 GHz, and the two highest-performance cores at 5.01 GHz. These clock speeds match the chips Xiaomi announced at launch. The Pro has Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the Pro Max has the stronger 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. According to Gizmochina, both chips have the same CPU and differ only in the GPU, with Adreno 845 vs Adreno 850.

Take the raw scores with a pinch of salt. The test ran with TensorFlow Lite on the processor only and didn’t use the chip’s neural processing unit. That’s why the smaller 18 Pro won one of the three tests. In simple accuracy it has 2,565 points, while the Pro Max has 2,256. In half accuracy and in the quantized test, Pro Max leads with 3,556 and 5,092 points; Pro has 3,236 and 4,667. These numbers don’t tell you much about gaming performance or how fast the AI features run in HyperOS.

This time, Pro models are also going global

In the previous generation, Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max were not officially sold outside China. At the start of the year, only the base Xiaomi 17 went global. If you wanted the smaller model with a rear display here, you had to go for the Chinese version. Tests with the global firmware suggest that this will change for the 18 Pro lineup.

Xiaomi hasn’t announced the launch date or European prices yet. The global versions will also differ from the Chinese ones in the battery. According to the firmware, the global 18 Pro will get a 6,000 mAh battery instead of 7,000 mAh, with 90W charging. On the Pro Max, capacity drops from 8,500 to 7,050 mAh. You’ll find the details in our article about the batteries of the global versions, and the full specifications of the Chinese models are in the launch article.
