- The global 18 Pro should have 6,000 mAh instead of the Chinese 7,000.
- Its charging drops from 100 W to 90 W.
- 18 Pro Max also loses: from the Chinese 8,500 mAh to 7,050 mAh, while 100 W stays.
- These numbers come from the firmware; Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed them yet.
Xiaomi introduced 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max just a few hours ago. We already know the global versions will be different. The phone’s system files include battery profiles for overseas markets, and the smaller model will get about a thousand mAh less based on them. On top of that, charging will be slower.
Pro loses one thousand mAh and ten watts as well
The Chinese Xiaomi 18 Pro has 7,000 mAh and charges at 100 W via cable. The global version should have only 6,000 mAh and 90 W. Capacity drops by 14 percent. So Pro will lose both mAh and watts.

The bigger 18 Pro Max is in a similar situation. From Chinese 8,500 mAh, it will end up with 7,050 mAh, meaning it loses 17 percent of capacity. 100 watts stays. There’s no mention of wireless charging.
Smaller batteries outside China aren’t new
Xiaomi does this with every generation. The Chinese Xiaomi 17 has 7,000 mAh; when it launched globally, it went out with 6,330 mAh. The same happened to Xiaomi 15 Ultra and POCO F7. This year the difference is bigger. And for the first time, the wattage is going down too.

The reason is said to be stricter rules for certification and air shipping of silicon-carbon battery cells. The Chinese 18 Pro has a Jinshajiang battery with 32 percent silicon in the anode. Such a cell is hard to adopt outside China. Xiaomi, however, has never publicly explained it, so for now it remains speculation.
The global premiere is confirmed
The confirmation came on the same day. On X, Xiaomi wrote that the Xiaomi 18 Pro lineup is coming to the world this year. It also praised that these are the first phones with a new pair of Snapdragon chips. Pro has 8 Elite Gen 6, while Pro Max has a stronger 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The global launch was confirmed directly on stage by Adam Zeng, head of international trade. The company hasn’t revealed the date or the list of markets yet.

The rest of the specs won’t change. Both models have a display with adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz and 4,000 nits brightness, plus a second display on the back. The camera setup uses a pair of 200 MP Leica sensors, and the system is HyperOS 4 on Android 17. You can find the complete specs and Chinese prices in the premiere article.
