The preparations for the Xiaomi 13 series phones are apparently in full swing, because every now and then we learn new details about them. The latest leak confirms that Xiaomi will use a massive 1-inch Sony IMX 989 sensor.
The same sensor is used in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, and it’s among the best camera phones on the market—thanks to Leica cooperation as well. However, it’s available only on the domestic Chinese market, and unfortunately it never made it to the global market, but its successor will fix that shortcoming.
Exclusive for the Pro model
Specifically, the informant Ice Universe pointed out the imaging sensor. It will also be used by companies like Vivo or OPPO, but only Xiaomi will have the advantage of calibration by Leica.
It’s good to note that this sensor will only go to the more premium of the two models, meaning the model Xiaomi 13 Pro. High performance from a processor that hasn’t been announced yet will also help deliver top-quality photos Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Xiaomi 13 Pro will get a ceramic finish
Moreover, the informant Kartikey Singh shared his renders of the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Visually, they also match the previous information that we can expect different surface finishes.
The standard Xiaomi 13 model will have a glass back with a matte finish, so it won’t leave fingerprints and won’t feel slippery in your hand.
According to expectations, the Xiaomi 13 Pro model should also offer a ceramic finish that looks truly luxurious and is also sufficiently sturdy. We just don’t know whether this option won’t be exclusive to the Chinese version only.
At least we have a clear idea of what the Xiaomi 13 series will look like. This time, Xiaomi will choose a more square camera module instead of the rectangular one currently seen on the Xiaomi 12/12S series, and the Leica logo won’t be missing either.
