It’s been some time since the expected update layer MIUI 12 was officially released to the world. However, the global version has only made its way into circulation these days, and for now it’s available only for Mi 9, Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro models.
Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi Note 7 models are still very popular, and many people still use them. So when will these devices also get an update to the new MIUI 12?
It started with the Pilot program
Right at the start, it’s important to understand that this isn’t any official information from the manufacturer, but a rough estimate based on previous info. Let’s wind the clock back a few weeks. MIUI 12 in the Global version was already expected, and more and more information was leaking.
Finally, Xiaomi was looking for testers for its pilot program for the global version of MIUI 12. However, only owners of devices Mi 9, Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro could apply.
Selected applicants were given a beta version of the update layer. Almost a month and a half later, the Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro models received an update to MIUI 12 Global Stable.
What’s the estimate?
The pilot program for Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7 and POCO F1 started already on June 10th. If we take into account the time gap between the pilot program and the official release, we can assume that the version for Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7 and POCO F1 could be released at the end of July or even at the beginning of August.
Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi Note 7 models are currently the biggest favorites for the MIUI 12 update.
As for POCO F1, it’s uncertain, even though the pilot program is already underway. The same goes for Redmi Note 8 or Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro models—there’s unclear future regarding updates. There’s simply no pilot program launched to test the update layer.
All that’s left for us is to wait for official information and hope it will be soon. Right now, it’s just a pure estimate. In case of official information, we’ll definitely keep you posted in time.
