That’s why we flipped another page on the calendar, and Lu Weibing added an interesting status to his profile on the Chinese social network Weibo. Today, Redmi’s general manager officially confirmed that the new smartphone Redmi K20 will be equipped with an NFC module.
The latest generation of an NFC chip
The latest-generation chip from the SN100 series will be used. It’s the same type of module as, for example, the one found in iPhone XS. The chip’s action speed is up to 30% higher compared to older NFC types.
After signing in to your Xiaomi account, all NFC configurations from your previous phone will be imported into your new Redmi smartphone. Of course, as long as you had one like that before.
NFC is best enjoyed in China
Xiaomi in China supports a wide range of features for built-in NFC modules. That way, locals can configure more than just 200 city bus cards on their phones. NFC can also be configured to simulate various unencrypted cards, for example for unlocking doors and similar uses.
Last but not least, third-party app support for using NFC is also available—for example, with various bonus cards, cards from a gas company, and many more. In the future, it may be possible to introduce broad use of the NFC module in phones here as well.
New photo
28th May / května 2019 is expected to see the presentation of two Redmi smartphones, as well as other products, such as a notebook series. One of the phones shown should be the Redmi K20 powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chip.
This model shows the latest leaked poster photo that’s promoting the smartphone. The photo is probably from one of Xiaomi’s brick-and-mortar stores in China. The photo also mentions the use of a 48 MPx rear camera and a 4000 mAh battery.
These specs should also be found in the cheaper K20 model. The K20 Pro will be the true flagship, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.
The leaked photo also perfectly shows the smartphone’s design not only from the front but also from the back. It confirms a pop-up camera, a display with very slim bezels, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Rich feature set of the true flagship
Both smartphones are said to get a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 px, with no notches or punch-holes. The front camera will be housed in a pop-up module. There should be multiple memory versions of the smartphones, up to a maximum capacity of 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage.
The battery will offer a solid 4000 mAh and is expected to support fast charging with 27 W power. The Redmi K20 series will come with a rear wide-angle Sony camera with a 48 MPx resolution, complemented by two more cameras with 13 MPx and 8 MPx resolutions. The camera can, among other things, capture 960 fps super-slow-motion video.
We covered the possible prices in yesterday’s article, and the price of the cheapest Redmi K20 Pro model should start at €340 / 8700 CZK.
