The company Redmi, as a subsidiary brand of Chinese Xiaomi, introduced a new budget smartphone Redmi Note 9 this year. The smartphone hit the market during May 2020.
Only a few months have passed and now it’s getting a software update to a new version of the custom interface labeled MIUI 12, about which we also brought you our review.
Redmi Note 9 with MIUI 12
It seems that Xiaomi is continuing to roll out the update to the custom interface in the MIUI 12 version. Even though distribution of this update for the Xiaomi Mi 9T model has been paused, new information indicates that the update is available for the budget smartphone Redmi Note 9, which has only recently appeared on the sales market.
Redmi Note 9 from the subsidiary brand’s lineup includes a MediaTek Helio G85 processor, which could have played a role in the update. One of the most affordable smartphones can therefore boast the latest system from the company—ahead of even more expensive and older devices from the brand.
Global version in just a few days
The new update is coming in a version labeled V12.0.2.0.QJOMIXM, and its total size is 1,9 GB. This update is also based on the latest operating system from Google, specifically Android 10.
There are multiple versions of this update in distribution. Specifically, there is a global version (Mi) primarily intended for Europe, then a version meant for markets outside Europe (EU / EAA), and a version labeled Stable Beta.
According to information available in the official Mi Community, if the rollout goes smoothly, the stable version available to all users will be available in the coming days. We’re mainly interested in the global version, i.e., the one primarily intended for European customers.
Among the new features brought by the MIUI 12 update, the smartphone’s new photo options definitely stand out. The Camera app will offer plenty of effects and filters for shooting. This update also includes security features to ensure the privacy of stored data.
