Welcome to part two. What Xiaomi is working on this week?
Viomi smart door lock
Xiaomi already has several smart door locks in its portfolio. This time, their very first one was unveiled by their subsidiary company Viomi, and it’s one of the most technologically advanced locks on the market. It includes a highly precise fingerprint sensor that ensures maximum security.
Thanks to a special algorithm that pulls real data from the cloud, it effectively prevents fake fingerprints. The lock keeps learning to recognize your finger as accurately as possible, and over time it speeds up unlocking.
In addition to the fingerprint sensor, it offers other ways to unlock. For example, you can set voice unlocking, magnetic cards, passwords, classic key unlocking, and even remote unlocking via a smartphone. You won’t need to carry a key anymore at all.
The lock’s construction is made from solid aluminum, which is highly resistant to damage and effectively prevents brute-force attacks. It resists prying, drilling, and cutting. High security is provided by electromagnetic protection and a Class C mechanical lock. The manufacturer states that even if thieves destroy the front panel, they still won’t be able to break into the lock.
The Viomi smart door lock also includes five alarms – for anti-breaking, anti-burglary, an alarm for multiple attempts with an incorrect password, and more. The lock will also notify you about low battery capacity. The battery life is rated at 12 months per charge. Last but not least, it offers integration with other Xiaomi smart home devices.
As soon as you open the door, all your smart home appliances will start working the way you’ve set them. For example, the lights turn on, the smart curtain opens, and the air conditioner starts running. However, there are many more options, depending on what devices you own. The price of the Viomi smart lock is 1299 yuan, which is about €170 / 4400 CZK.
AFU essential oil diffuser
Having trouble sleeping? Xiaomi has a solution. The latest essential oil diffuser is designed specifically for people who have difficulty falling asleep or who often wake up. The aroma diffuser aims to help you relax and unwind your mind before bed.
An essential lavender oil is included with the diffuser. The oil misting works with minimal noise. In terms of design, the diffuser looks quite a lot like a night lamp, since it includes one too. The soft light also helps you fall asleep more easily.
The AFU aroma diffuser was certified by the IFA (International Federation of Aromatherapists) organization, which speaks to its quality. The built-in battery ensures functionality and can be recharged via a microUSB connector. The device price on the YouPin platform is 99 yuan, which is about 13 € / 335 CZK.
Xiaomi MITU kids’ hair trimmer
Another of the latest devices is the Xiaomi MITU hair clipper for kids. It’s suitable for children up to 12 years old. It features a head with ceramic blades that are easy to clean and resistant to corrosion. The double-blade design also ensures complete safety, so your child’s delicate scalp won’t get injured.
There are 3 attachments available, adjustable to 5 different hair lengths. The clipper is very compact and easy to carry, comes with an IPX7 water-resistance certificate, and supports fast charging via microUSB. Battery life on a single charge is 2 hours.
The new model is also available for us to buy now. Banggood was the first retailer to add it to the lineup and immediately provided a discount coupon as well. If you have small kids at home, this kind of hair clipper is definitely handy.

New Widetech smart dehumidifier
The latest news on the YouPin platform this week is the New Widetech smart dehumidifier. This new wide-range smart dehumidifier is suitable for rooms with an area of 5-40 m2. It includes a large 18 L tank that captures all the moisture. The device is especially useful for areas with high humidity and frequent rain.
The dehumidifier can absorb up to 18 liters of water from the air per day, which equals 72 x 250 ml bottles of mineral water. It has a super fast dehumidifying capability – in 1 hour it can reduce the humidity in a room as large as 18 m2. The New Widetech dehumidifier uses the principle of cooling and then heating the air to achieve higher dehumidification efficiency.
During dehumidification, the room temperature may vary within ± 2°C. The difference is minimal, and dehumidifying is much more comfortable for the user than using air conditioning. The device includes a continuous dehumidifying mode, a dry clothes mode, and also 3 dehumidifying speed modes.
Thanks to the built-in antibacterial filter with silver ions, it absorbs bacteria and also destroys the bacteria environment that thrives in damp conditions. The filter kills bacteria in rooms up to 25 m2 within just 30 minutes after turning it on. The noise level is 38 dB and it also supports app control via Mi Home.
The price of the New Widetech smart dehumidifier was set at 799 yuan, which is approximately 105 € / 2700 kč.
