Upgraded design and still great display
The design of this year’s Xiaomi 12T Pro hasn’t changed much compared to its sibling from a year ago. It’s more about minor adjustments and improvements, for example in the camera module, which clearly positions the phone in this year’s Xiaomi design.
There are also almost no changes near the display. The exception is the resolution, or rather the pixel density, which this year increased from 395 ppi to 446 ppi. However, the display protection level unfortunately dropped from Gorilla Glass Victus to Gorilla Glass 5, which is a slight letdown. The color options also remain similar to last year.
A powerful processor in this year’s new model
The Xiaomi 12T Pro features Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which after its last two flagship Snapdragon chipsets once again brings improved performance, but finally also better energy efficiency—meaning less overheating. It’s made using a 4nm manufacturing process (compared to 5nm on Snapdragon 888).
The graphics chip received an upgrade to Adreno 730, while the RAM memory and internal storage remain unchanged.
Camera: 200 MP monster Xiaomi 12T Pro
The new main camera on the Xiaomi 12T Pro is an incredible 200 MPx, the highest of any Xiaomi smartphone. The sensor is from Samsung, specifically the HP1 chip. Besides that, it also brings optical image stabilization and the Xiaomi ProFocus technology for sharp photos and videos in all conditions.
Last year’s Xiaomi 11T Pro features a 108 MPx main sensor from Samsung HM1 that can also be found in a number of other Xiaomi smartphones. The secondary cameras are largely similar in both versions.
The battery stays tested and reliable
In this part of the phone compared to last year, there are no changes. We would have liked to see wireless charging, which unfortunately is missing. Still, these are great specs, since both phones include a 5000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
A noticeable price difference
The price of this year’s model doubled, which despite rising prices worldwide is still a decent jump. Specifically, it stopped just below 800 €.
Last year’s Xiaomi 11T Pro is currently available for a price below 400 euros. So does the new model bring enough upgrades to justify this price tag? We’ll leave that up to your judgment.

Final verdict: Xiaomi 12T Pro vs Xiaomi 11T Pro
Since this year’s new release brought a significant price increase, its improvements are viewed a bit critically. Still, it’s a great device with a camera you simply won’t find in another smartphone. High performance, a flagship display, and a large battery give you everything you need to use your smartphone to the fullest.
However, if maximum performance and the latest camera aren’t something you’re willing to pay nearly double the price for, the Xiaomi 11T Pro is still a great choice we can recommend.
