A beautiful display and a quad-core CPU
Xiaomi laptops are often described as affordable alternatives to Apple’s MacBook. The Mi Notebook Air 13.3 from 2018 comes with a quality aluminum build. It’s finished in a dark gray coating with a subtle name: Deep Gray. We have our own experience with Xiaomi laptops and we have to say the workmanship is at a TOP level.
In the aluminum chassis, there’s a 13.3″ FullHD IPS display that offers vibrant colors and perfect viewing angles. Displays in Xiaomi laptops are among the best. The plus is also relatively narrow bezels around the screen, which makes the laptop truly compact. The laptop weighs only 1.39 kg and a thickness of 14.7 mm.
On the hardware side, it comes with a very decent configuration. Since it’s a last year model, you’ll find Intel Core i5-8250U with four cores and a maximum boost clock of 3.4 GHz.
Smooth multitasking is handled by 8 GB DDR4L RAM. There’s also a dedicated graphics card Nvidia GeForce MX150 with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory. It’s not the most powerful GPU, but it can handle more demanding games too.
Fast SSD, fast charging
In the base config, there’s a 256 GB SSD, but a huge advantage of Xiaomi laptops is the ability to expand storage with additional PCI-e SSDs. Thanks to this interface, the drives are incredibly fast, reaching data transfer speeds of up to 3400 MB/s (CrystalDiskMark benchmark).
5000 mAh battery ensures up to 7.5 hours of video playback. For everyday work, the laptop lasts around 3.5 hours. The highlight is fast 1C charging, which gets the laptop to 50% in just 30 minutes.
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air also features a fingerprint sensor located on the touchpad. The package is rounded out with a backlit keyboard, high-quality stereo AKG speakers, a powerful dual-band WiFi antenna, a 1 MPx webcam, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, and a USB Type-C connector.
