Elegant slim body, solid performance
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro is made of quality aluminum that’s applied across the entire build. From personal experience, we can say the build quality is TOP level. The construction has a thickness of only 15.9 mm and the laptop weighs 1.9 kg. For the 15.6-inch machine, those are very respectable specs.
The display uses a beautiful glossy IPS panel with real colors, great viewing angles, and the classic FullHD resolution. It’s not touch-enabled. The side bezels are only 6.52 mm wide, which gives the laptop a gorgeous look. The screen takes up up to 81.5% of the front.
The keyboard is backlit, the key travel is 1.5 mm, and typing feels really nice. It’s easy to get used to the layout quickly. The only downside is the lack of a numeric keypad. The touchpad is rather average, but it’s enough for everyday work. Still, we recommend carrying a regular mouse with you. The touchpad has a fingerprint sensor built in, and it works reliably.
Quad-core Intels, SSDs, and Nvidias
Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro comes in up to four versions. The most basic one is powered by a quad-core Intel Core i5-8250U, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, and Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics. Its first more powerful sibling gets Intel Core i7-8550U, while the other specs stay the same.
The second more powerful model comes with Intel Core i7-8550U, 16 GB RAM, the same SSD, and graphics. And finally, we have the most powerful variant with Intel Core i7-8550U, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, and a gaming graphics card Nvidia GTX1050 MaxQ with 4 GB GDDR5 memory.
So all models come with 8th generation Intel processors, 256 GB SSD PCIe drives, and DDR4 2400MHz RAM. All models also offer a memory upgrade option via an additional free PCIe SSD slot.
Quality Harman stereo audio
In other specs, the laptops are identical. The equipment includes, for example, high-quality Harman Infinity stereo speakers with power 2 x 2,5 W, two USB Type-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, or an SD card slot.
The battery has a capacity of 8000 mAh and offers up to 3-4 hours of normal use (WiFi, browser, Word, Spotify). You’ll be pleased to have fast charging too—after 35 minutes, the battery charges up by 50 %.
