Incredible 5G speed on the Mi MIX 3 smartphone. 5G: 8K video handles it like a piece of cake!

We consider Xiaomi and Qualcomm to be the biggest pioneers in 5G technologies, which will already be a common part of our daily lives in the near future. Mobile networks of the 5. generation are still in their infancy, but there are already several smartphones on the market that support 5G.

Among the first was Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G, which has already started selling in Switzerland, where more than 150 cities are covered by the 5G network. It’s clear that in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, we’re still waiting for the first 5G networks.

8K video plays like „nothing“

If you’re a fan of our Facebook page, you may have spotted a photo with the first demonstration of the 5G network speed on the Mi MIX 3 5G smartphone. We shared a photo where, in a Speedtest, the smartphone reached an incredible download speed of 929 Mbit/s.

Xiaomi’s Senior Vice President, Xiang Wang, shared a new video on his Twitter profile, which also demonstrates the amazing speed of 5G networks on this smartphone. On the Mi MIX 3 5G, they this time tested running 8K video. Even 360-degree 8K video!

„I’m shocked by this 8K video playing on Mi MIX 3 5G, our first 5G smartphone. The super high speed and low latency achieved with 5G really changes the mobile experience.“, Xiang Wang said in his status.

As we can see, even when rewinding the video there was no long loading time and the video kept playing almost immediately. Although playing 8K video on a smartphone doesn’t make much sense, it’s a wonderful demonstration of the huge potential of future 5G networks.

5G networks, however, won’t be only for ultra-fast downloading via smartphones. Xiaomi is already working on connecting IoT devices via 5G networks, which should bring users even higher comfort and new possibilities. We’re definitely looking forward to the 5G era.

What do you think—when will we get the first 5G networks in Slovakia and the Czech Republic?
