Recently, we informed you about that Xiaomi leaked a certification where a Redmi Note 8 smartphone intended for 2021 appeared. This smartphone has now also been confirmed by the company itself.
A second breath for Redmi Note 8
On its official Twitter account, Xiaomi shared a poster where it officially confirmed that this model really will arrive. It also revealed the reason why it reached for the almost two-year-old model again. The Chinese giant argues that the Redmi Note 8 model has sold more than 25 million units worldwide, which is a huge number.
That’s why it wants to satisfy customers of this model so they can switch to its upgraded version. Xiaomi already confirmed in its latest Twitter post that the design will stay unchanged. They published a photo showing the new Redmi Note 8 2021 with the same design as its predecessor.
The original Redmi Note 8 from 2019 was a very capable smartphone, thanks in part to its low selling price. We described this smartphone in a detailed review that we published on our website.
Speculation about new internals
It’s starting to be speculated about what the equipment of the new updated model for year 2021 will look like. The original smartphone had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, but the leaks claim that this year Redmi will go with a MediaTek chip. Specifically, it should be the MediaTek Helio G85 processor. It’s a mid-range processor, to which the manufacturer would add a display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
It should also include a main camera with a resolution of 48 MPx, and the battery should get the same capacity as the model from year 2019, meaning 4 000 mAh.
No other specs were revealed. We can expect that Redmi will reveal more specifications for this smartphone in the coming days, along with the date of its launch.
