Shares and investors are reacting to the launch of new products that took place in China on 26. June 2025.

Investors were especially interested in the new products, particularly Xiaomi’s electric SUV YU7

During the event, we saw a new smartphone Xiaomi MIX Flip 2, Redmi K80 Ultra, Xiaomi AI Glasses, but the biggest attention went to the electric SUV Xiaomi YU7, for which the manufacturer announced the official price for the Chinese market.

It starts at an incredible €30,000 for the base model and goes up to just under €40,000 for the top-performance model with 508 kW and acceleration from 0 to 100 in 3.2 seconds. In just one hour after sales launched in China, the manufacturer received an incredible 200,000 orders in 3 minutes! After an hour, the number was at 289,000 orders.

Lei, who became famous for his bold plans to topple Apple Inc. in China, is betting on electric vehicles that go head-to-head with Musk’s Tesla and kick off the final chapter of his business career.

Xiaomi has moved into new areas, from chip design to AI-powered glasses, and pledged to invest up to 200 billion yuan over five years into research and development, as it tries to turn the Chinese company into a global technology leader.

This new electric vehicle sparked a frenzy around the world, which also drove the next surge in share value. On 26 June 2025, they closed at a new record high of 58.71 HKD per share.

The company’s market capitalization also hit a new record: a staggering 1.48 trillion HKD (€161 billion).

It’s not just a number. It signals real confidence in Xiaomi’s long-term growth. Analysts are noticing it. It’s not only about the share price. Xiaomi’s strategy—integrating smartphones, electric vehicles, and smart home technologies into a single ecosystem—seems to be resonating with investors and consumers alike.

Xiaomi IPO: These are the milestones

Xiaomi entered the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 9. July 2018 as the first company (within the HK exchange) with a two-class share structure, made possible by the reform of the HK exchange rules.

Xiaomi ends the Year of the Dragon on the exchange with a value of 38,30 HK$

A two-class share structure is a mechanism that allows companies to issue two (or more) types of shares with different rights, especially when it comes to voting rights. This model is often used in public stock offerings (IPOs) so that founders or company management can maintain control even after selling part of their shares to the public.

So these shares are specifically split into Class A shares (typically for the public) and Class B shares, which are available to founders and management.

Initial challenges: Despite a promising start to the offering, the shares fell below the issue price of 17 HKD and in September 2019 reached their low at 8.28 HKD per share.

Turnover and growth: The key turning point came on January 4, 2021, when the share price reached double the issue price and surpassed HKD 34.

2023: Thanks to the new “Smartphone × AIoT” strategy, which connects smartphones and AIoT devices, Xiaomi is moving into the TOP3 largest global smartphone players.

2024: Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicles exceeded annual sales of more than 100,000 units, making Xiaomi a key player in the electric vehicle sector.

January 2025: The shares broke through HK$36.25 on January 3, then rose 7% to HK$37.1 on January 24, before setting a record close on January 28 at HK$38.30. The shares have gained more than 360% from their 2019 low.

June 2025: The share price approached the HKD 60 mark, representing an increase of about 70% compared with January figures. The company’s market capitalization also reached a new record, an incredible HKD 1.48 trillion (EUR 161 billion).

Rising shareholder confidence

Xiaomi’s current stock gains are the result of growing investor confidence in the company’s strategic direction. Its key areas include innovative smartphone technologies, an expanded IoT device portfolio, and ambitious plans in electric vehicles.

This success reflects broader optimism in the tech sector, where Xiaomi is strengthening its global position. It is also important to note that the Chinese government rolled out the biggest cash stimulus to the economy since the pandemic in October last year.

This pushed Chinese stocks up by 40% , but only Xiaomi has managed to hold on to those gains. Other Chinese stocks, such as Alibaba, and the MSCI China index fell a bit again.

Outlook for Xiaomi

Breaking the market capitalization of 900 billion HKD is a clear sign that Xiaomi belongs among the leading players in the high-tech industry. Analysts attribute this success to product portfolio diversification, innovation, and continuous expansion into international markets. The stock performance suggests that the company is able to respond to market needs, creating room for further growth.

For beginners, investing on the stock exchange is often seen as complicated, but you can prepare for it with a few steps:

  1. Education is the TOP priority: Learn the basics like stocks, ETFs, market capitalization, and diversification.
  2. Setting goals: Clarify whether you want to invest short-term (e.g., speculation) or long-term (to build wealth).
  3. Budget: Invest only the money you can afford to lose.
  4. Diversification: Never put everything into a single company or sector. Spreading your investments reduces risk.
  5. Choosing a broker: Choose an verified broker that offers easy tools for beginners.
  6. Long-term approach: Stocks can fluctuate, but when you invest long-term, history shows that markets tend to grow.
