Chinese companies like Huawei or Xiaomi, which are becoming increasingly more popular in Western markets, have recently been taking a lot—often unfair—criticism in the area of user personal data protection.
For Xiaomi, the security of sensitive information is not an afterthought, and that’s why the Chinese giant has decided to strengthen data protection even further. Xiaomi Mi MIX 10 and MIUI 15 should, judging by everything, be at a very high level when it comes to security.
Data security matters
That the Chinese giant truly handles its users’ sensitive data responsibly is also shown by the latest version of the popular Android skin—MIUI 12. In MIUI 12, security has its own dedicated chapter.
Xiaomi recently organized an event aimed at informing people and highlighting the importance of security. As part of the event, the Chinese giant prepared various workshops for fans on malware, phishing, and other online threats.
Xiaomi has divided its users’ personal data security into four levels: the highest security level, confidential security, internal security, and a level with open access.
Workshop participants received stickers with items that they later had to match to the corresponding security level. The security levels were arranged from the least protected areas at the bottom to the most protected ones at the top.
Among the stickers, a smartphone appeared: Mi MIX 10, and the overlay MIUI 15. With this move, Xiaomi is probably trying to indicate that it will be Xiaomi Mi MIX 10 and the user interface overlay MIUI 15 that will excel in security.
The event also invited various IT security experts, who tried to explain to participants how mobile phone identification works, as well as other electronic devices. No doubt, it was a great event full of new insights.
As for the successor to the Mi MIX series, Mi MIX 4, we can currently only guess that it will bring a 120 Hz 2K AMOLED display, a 150 MPx main sensor with 20x optical zoom, a 20 MPx macro lens, a 40 MPx wide-angle sensor, a Snapdragon 875 processor, and 100 W charging.
