Xiaomi is continuing its exceptionally aggressive expansion of its vehicle lineup. After the success of the sports sedan Xiaomi SU7, the powerful SU7 Ultra, and the electric SUV YU7, the manufacturer is coming with an entirely new model family: Xiaomi SkyNomad, this time focusing on extended-range vehicles (EREV). The new models are labeled Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max and Xiaomi SkyNomad N70, with their official market debut scheduled for September 2026.
Both models have already been detailed by Xiaomi on its official website, and the first units of the flagship model Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max have also arrived in showrooms across China. Xiaomi is thus revealing its vision for a modern family SUV that combines the advantages of an electric car with a gasoline generator for producing electricity, offering a completely new perspective on family travel.
Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max is a luxury 7-seater SUV with a huge amount of space
The flagship of the new series is the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max, one of the large seven-seat SUVs with a 2+2+3 seating configuration. The body dimensions reach approximately 5285 × 1998 × 1825 mm with a wheelbase of 3080 mm, placing it among the largest SUVs on the Chinese market.
Xiaomi placed extraordinary emphasis on interior flexibility. The front seats can be electronically rotated by 180 degrees, creating a lounge-style area facing the second-row seats. There’s also a sliding center module with a fridge, an electrically retractable table, a rear entertainment display, a second row with so-called zero-gravity seats, and even a luxury four-seat lounge mode with an enormous footwell space.
Up to 1705 km total range and 464 km purely on electricity
The biggest new feature is an entirely new system: Xiaomi Kunlun Super EREV. Under the front hood, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 112 kW works—but it doesn’t drive the wheels. It’s used exclusively as a generator to supply electricity for the traction battery.
The powertrain itself is provided by a pair of electric motors with a combined output of 310 kW (416 hp). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 5.9 seconds, and the top speed reaches 190 km/h. Energy is stored in a large 76 kWh NMC battery, which according to the CLTC method allows a range of up to 464 km purely on electricity. The total combined range is an impressive 1705 km. Charging also supports high power, and in about 15 minutes it can replenish enough energy for an additional 285 km of driving according to CLTC.
Smart interior with HyperOS and six displays
The cabin of the new SUV is among the most technologically advanced that Xiaomi has introduced so far. The entire interior runs on the Xiaomi HyperOS system and uses up to six interconnected displays.
The driver has a large head-up display, a digital instrument cluster, and a central 16,1-inch infotainment screen. Rear passengers get a ceiling-mounted 21,4-inch display and a mobile control panel. A built-in voice assistant—Super XiaoAI—is included, along with Wi-Fi 7 support, dual 5G connectivity, three Bluetooth modules, and a new Xiaomi XLA AI model.
Safety is among the top priorities
Xiaomi has paid a great deal of attention to the safety of the entire build. The body uses high-strength steel, 2200 MPa reinforcements, 12 airbags, and a total of 9 collision sensors. The manufacturer states it has been developed according to the strictest Chinese safety standards, C-NCAP and C-IASI.
It’s also interesting to see the vehicle’s capabilities when driving through water. The vehicle can wade to a depth of up to 750 mm, features water sensors, a special wading mode, and the battery meets IPX8/IPX9K protection. A tire-defect stabilization system is also included up to speeds of 160 km/h, along with advanced driver-assistance systems using LiDAR.
Xiaomi SkyNomad N70: The same technologies, in a more compact package
Alongside its flagship, Xiaomi also unveiled the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 model, aimed at customers looking for a classic five-seat SUV. It’s a sportier-tuned model with a length of 4960 mm and a wheelbase of 2950 mm, offering the same intelligent-space philosophy as the larger sibling.
Here, the variable interior is also retained. The second-row seats slide along long rails, with an office mode, a large bed, and rotating front seats. After folding the seats down, the trunk can grow to as much as 2425 liters, making the N70 a very practical family SUV.
Price and availability in China
Pre-orders for the new models have already started in China. The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max begins at a price of 299 900 yuan, which is approximately €39 thousand, while the smaller Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 starts at 259 900 yuan (roughly €33 thousand).
The official launch in the Chinese market is scheduled for September 2026. Xiaomi expects that the new SkyNomad series will significantly boost sales of its automotive division, which has set an ambitious target of selling up to 550 thousand vehicles for 2026. In the first half of 2026 alone, the automaker has already sold more than 185 thousand cars.
According to early information, this is one of the most ambitious projects in the brand’s history. The manufacturer isn’t just competing with electric cars—it’s targeting premium family SUVs from brands like Li Auto, Aito, BYD, and Huawei.
How much could a Xiaomi SkyNomad cost in Europe?
At the current exchange rate of approximately €0.1283 per 1 Chinese yuan, the base price of the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 comes out to about €33,344. The larger Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max priced at 299,900 yuan is, in direct conversion, approximately €38,476.
However, for an official European sale, it would be necessary to add VAT, shipping, type approval (homologation), distribution costs, and dealer margins. As a result, the real European price of the N70 could be in the range of about €48k to €52k, while the more premium N90 Max could start at roughly €55k to €60k. Even so, these would still be very competitive prices considering the size, performance, range, and rich technological equipment of both vehicles.
