After the success of the electric sedan Xiaomi SU7 and the sporty Xiaomi SUV YU7, the manufacturer is introducing an entirely new model family, the Xiaomi SkyNomad. This is the brand’s second automotive series, focused on spacious SUVs with an emphasis on safety, intelligent technologies, and maximum passenger comfort. On July 30, Xiaomi will officially unveil the complete Kunlun technical architecture along with two new models, N90 Max and N70 Max.
Just shortly before the official premiere, the company is gradually revealing the most interesting features of the new product. The released information suggests that SkyNomad won’t be just another electrified SUV, but a car built on an entirely new platform that combines a high level of safety, advanced driver-assistance systems, and an unusually versatile interior.

The live broadcast from Xiaomi’s official presentation of the new SkyNomad technology platform will take place tomorrow, 30. July at 13:00 our time on Xiaomi’s official X account. You can watch it with us here:
The new Kunlun platform forms the foundation of the entire series
Xiaomi calls the new technology Kunlun Technical Architecture. It consists of three main pillars – the Kunlun Platform, the Kunlun HyperRange extended-range system, and a comprehensive Kunlun Total Safety safety solution.
This architecture will enable the creation of multiple types of vehicles with different drivetrain configurations. The first two models will have different focuses. SkyNomad N90 Max is a large seven-seat SUV with a 2+2+3 seating configuration, while N70 Max it will offer a five-seat all-wheel-drive version with an extended-range system.
Safety is among the top priorities
Xiaomi pays great attention to the body construction. The new SkyNomad uses the so-called Armor-Cage Body Structure, meaning a protective cage-like design with ultra-strong steel inside with a strength of up to 2200 MPa. The manufacturer states that this material is used in sixteen critical areas of the vehicle.
Up to 90,4 % of the entire body is made of high-strength steel and aluminum. The roof has to withstand near-14 ton of pressure, and the new integrated ring around the doors covers the A, B, C and D pillars. Compared to a traditional welded structure, this increases resistance to side impact by approximately 19 %.
The intelligent equipment feels more like a modern smartphone
The interior will be equipped with several large displays right away. The driver gets a 16,1-inch 3K central display, a 8,88-inch digital instrument panel, and for rear passengers there will be up to a 21,4-inch screen. There’s also a 20-inch Head-Up display projecting information directly onto the windshield.
One interesting detail is that the front passenger seat can be folded out into a lounger format, and at the same time it can work as a control panel for passengers in the rear. The infotainment is handled by a platform built on the third-generation Snapdragon 8 chip, and you’ll also get Xiaomi Super Xiao AI voice assistant as well as integration with the CarIoT ecosystem.
Assistance systems with 700 TOPS performance
The entire SkyNomad series will come standard with Xiaomi’s latest HAD (High-level Assisted Driving) system. Data processing is handled by the powerful NVIDIA Thor chip, delivering up to 700 TOPS of computing power. Vehicles also use Xiaomi’s large language model Xiaomi XLA for intelligent decision-making while driving.
The hardware setup includes a roof-mounted LiDAR, a 4D millimeter-wave radar, eleven HD cameras, and twelve ultrasonic sensors. The top model N90 Max also adds a rear solid-state LiDAR, improving coverage behind the vehicle and increasing accuracy for parking as well as autonomous functions.
Spacious interior with a completely flat floor
Xiaomi is also teasing a completely new interior concept. The cabin uses a flat floor without a center tunnel, long sliding seat rails, and the ability to rotate the front seats backward. After adding a foldable table, the interior can turn into a small workspace or a relaxing area.
According to the manufacturer, the seven-seat N90 Max will offer enough space for seven adults taller than 185 cm, while still leaving room for at least seven large suitcases. The total vehicle length is about 5,28 meters, putting it among the largest SUVs in its category.
Mountain Green and a nature-inspired design
Along with Xiaomi’s technologies, the company also introduced a new color: Mountain Green. The paint uses blue-green pearl pigments enhanced with fine metallic particles that, depending on the incoming light, change their shade. The design looks very elegant and sets the SkyNomad apart from the sportier-styled YU7.
The official unveiling of the entire Xiaomi SkyNomad series is scheduled for 19:00 on July 30 (Beijing time). Xiaomi is expected to reveal the full technical specifications, powertrain details, performance figures, and the planned start of sales in the Chinese market. So far, the manufacturer hasn’t announced whether the new SUV will ever make it to global markets.
