We ordered a REDMI Note 17 Pro Max from China for a fan, home in 7 days and €105 cheaper: Slovak and Czech, 10 000 mAh battery, 100 W charger, and zero extra charges!
Reader Martin needed a new phone and went straight for the top model of the new lineup, REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G. We helped him with the order through Gshopper, and the phone from China arrived in 7 days. When he picked it up, he didn’t pay a single extra euro. He then shared his experience, with photos, in our Facebook group, and we’ll go through it point by point here.
We do this on purpose. We still meet people who don’t believe a phone from a Chinese warehouse can have Slovak language, working mobile payments, and signal on Slovak networks. The phone the customer has at home on the table says more than our promises ever could.
Martin’s reader review
Martin has the 8 + 256 GB version and shared his experience in a post in our Facebook group. We only adjusted the punctuation and typos in the text:
Since it was time to replace my phone, I went straight for the latest top version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G. The site administrator helped me with the order. The phone from China arrived within 7 days. It takes just as long to ship from a European warehouse. I didn’t pay any extra fees anymore, not even those famous 3 euros under the new rules.
The phone has the global version. It has Slovak language, mobile payments work, and Android Auto also works. The package also included a 100 W charger. For me, it was a great deal, everything went really quickly. For that kind of money, we can only dream of it here in Slovakia. Of course, it also has a 10 000 mAh battery.

The photos are Martin’s, taken at his desk the day after unboxing. The box contained the phone, a silicone case with the REDMI logo, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and the original 100 W charger with a European plug. So he didn’t need to deal with an adapter or converter. Phones from Slovak stores have been sold without a charger since the end of 2024, so otherwise he would have had to buy one separately for around 30 €.
How much you save compared to Slovak stores
The cheapest Slovak store on Heureka currently asks 425 € for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G in the 8 + 256 GB version and 489 € for the 8 + 512 GB version. The official European launch price was 599.90 € for 8 + 256 GB. Gshopper is 75 € cheaper for 512 GB and over 50 € cheaper for 256 GB. On top of that, you get the 100 W charger, which is missing from the Slovak package and costs around 30 € on its own. The total savings for the 512 GB version therefore exceed 100 €.
The prices in the price box apply when paying by bank transfer; paying by card costs 4.5% more. Gshopper ships from a Chinese warehouse with tax and customs duty included in the price, and delivery takes roughly 7 to 15 days. If you want to be sure we’ll help you in case of any problem, order through the orange button in the box.
Xiaomi Planet shopping tip: GShopper has now launched direct bank transfer payments, so you can save another 4.5 % off the product price! Compared to card / Google Pay payment, you can get this product much cheaper. We described the full bank transfer payment process in our article.

Seven days from Hong Kong, the carrier handled customs duty
Parcel tracking shows the whole journey. On the night of 26 September, the parcel was at the airport in Hong Kong, on the morning of 27 September it took off, and that same day it landed in Budapest. Customs clearance on 28 September took less than an hour, from 15:18 to 16:15.
In Slovakia, the shipment was picked up by a DPD courier on 30 September. In the morning of 1 October, he sent an email with a delivery window from 12:20 to 13:20 and a PIN code for handover, and the phone was delivered at 12:34. Customs duty and VAT were handled in Budapest and paid by the seller. The customer didn’t pay even the 3 € per item fee that carriers have charged since July.

Is it really the global version? The phone itself shows it
Just open the settings. Martin’s unit has HyperOS 3.0.310.0.WDRMIXM based on Android 16. The letters MI in the code indicate global software, which Xiaomi sells in most countries around the world. So it’s not a Chinese version with Google services added later, nor a ROM modified by the seller.

The whole interface is in Slovak, and the Play Store and Google services work right from the first boot. In the status bar you can see 5G and VoLTE on both SIM cards, so calls through Slovak carriers work in HD quality. Martin also confirmed mobile payments via NFC and Android Auto.

Compared with Slovak stores, there is one difference here, and it is in favor of the Chinese warehouse. Phones in our stores have European software with the EU code and a 9,210 mAh battery. The global version has a 10,000 mAh battery. Xiaomi lists this in the specs, and so does the seller in the offer. Both versions have Slovak, Google services, and system updates.
What about the warranty?
Warranty is the question you ask most often, so we’ll answer precisely. According to Xiaomi’s warranty terms for Slovakia, phones from the official European distribution come with a two-year warranty handled by the authorized ESC sk service center. A phone imported from Hong Kong does not qualify.
So we asked Gshopper directly how a claim works in that case. Here is their answer:
For a warranty claim, the customer first contacts Xiaomi’s official service center. If Xiaomi service refuses the warranty repair, the customer can contact Gshopper and we will officially take over the claim with Xiaomi. If Xiaomi does not repair it, Gshopper is responsible for the repair. The same applies as with our other smartphones: if it is a manufacturing defect, Gshopper pays for both shipping and the repair.
So if it’s a manufacturing defect, you don’t pay for the repair, whether Xiaomi service does it or Gshopper arranges it. In that case, they will involve an independent service center in Spain that repairs Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones from Gshopper. Sending it to the warehouse in Hong Kong is only the last resort. The seller lists a two-year warranty for the product. If you order through our links, you won’t have to handle the whole process yourself: we’ll help you through our direct contact at Gshopper. Such VIP support is free and won’t raise the price by even a cent.

100 W charger in the box and the first days with the battery
The charger included in the box says "Designed by Xiaomi" and has a 100 W output. With the included USB-A to USB-C cable, it can deliver full HyperCharge power. According to Xiaomi, 20 minutes in the socket is enough for the phone to last the whole day.

Martin also sent a screenshot of the battery from the first few days. After 42 hours and 34 minutes since unplugging from the charger, the phone was at 54% and the system estimated another 28 hours. This is not our battery-life test, just the normal use of one person. But two days on a single charge are clearly not just talk with this model.
What they criticize in the comments
Under our post on Deal Planet, one reader listed why he thinks buying from China is a bad idea. Some of his objections are valid, others are disproved by Martin’s phone. Let’s go through them one by one.
"Support for Slovak and Czech is not guaranteed." That would apply to the Chinese version. Martin’s unit has global software and Slovak right from the first boot, as you can see in the photos above. That’s why we specify which version it is with every deal.
"You have no guarantee it will work on our network." The phone shows 5G and VoLTE on both SIM cards. Calls and data therefore work on Slovak carriers’ networks without restrictions.
"The official service won’t repair it for free under warranty." According to Xiaomi’s terms, that may be true: you are not entitled to a free repair of an imported phone at the service center. But Gshopper confirmed to us that if Xiaomi service refuses the repair, they will cover both the repair and shipping in the case of a manufacturing defect. So you don’t pay for the repair.
"Deal Planet is not a shop nor an official Xiaomi representative." And that’s also true, and we’ve never claimed otherwise. We don’t sell phones directly—you pay the verified store yourself, which we either checked with our own money or have been working with for years. The shop pays us a commission, so your price won’t go up because of us. On the contrary, you’ll get a coupon from us, help choosing the right version, and VIP support if anything goes wrong.
Buying from China isn’t for everyone. If you want to be able to return or complain at a store around the corner, buy your phone in Slovakia. If you want a bigger battery and a charger in the box for a significantly lower price, you can rely on Martin’s experience. Martin’s post is public in a group with over 24 -thousand members, so you can ask him anything yourself.
