Xiaomi is taking the HyperOS 3 seriously. After the official launch of the Chinese version in August and the global debut on September 24, 2025, it’s clear that this isn’t just another system update with new icons.
HyperOS tips and tricks in our FB group
HyperOS 3 in the global version delivers a range of major changes that touch not only performance and design, but also AI elements and connectivity across different platforms. Plus, Xiaomi doesn’t shy away from inspiration from the competition alongside these technological shifts — however, it does so in its own style.
Performance, design, and smoothness as the foundation
At first glance, it sounds like a classic marketing figure — up to 30% performance boost. That’s what the developers at Xiaomi claim with the new version of HyperOS 3. But what does that actually mean in practice? The system has been refined right from the ground up — from the core to the compiler, which now processes instructions more efficiently.
The result? Faster responses, smoother animations, and an overall better user experience. Your phone or tablet feels more responsive not only with everyday tasks like launching apps, but also when switching between them or during more demanding operations. In short, everything just runs more smoothly.
The interface has received a subtle facelift. We have new icons, more vibrant widgets, modernized battery and signal indicators, and an overall cleaner and more polished look. Xiaomi it claims that more than 100 animations, so they feel more natural and link logically to each other. And you’ll definitely notice this detail — the controls feel smoother and more modern than ever before.
Hyper Island is Dynamic Island, Xiaomi-style
Apple inspiration is hard to miss here, but many Chinese manufacturers came with this feature even before Xiaomi, and our favorite brand chose its own path. Hyper Island, which by the way you’ll get in only the premium models, is a new interactive element around the front camera that displays live activities like music playback, a timer, charging status, or notifications — without needing to leave the currently open app.
By swiping down on this island, you’ll open a floating window you can use, for example, for quickly replying to a message. And if one island isn’t enough — HyperOS 3 also supports a mode with two islands at the same time.
The biggest leap forward? Artificial intelligence, for sure. Xiaomi combined its own AI solutions with deep integration of Google Gemini, and the result is a system that isn’t just “smart” anymore — it starts acting like your personal assistant.
For example, the AI Writing feature can create texts, summarize notes, or help with ideas during brainstorming. AI Search can search not only your device, but also the internet — and it will give you a brief answer right away without unnecessary clicking. And then there’s DeepThink, which shows you how the AI actually makes decisions, so you can better understand its “thinking.”
AI can do even more. AI Speech Recognition transcribes spoken words in real time, reduces noise in recordings, and once you’re done, it creates both a recording and a brief summary for you. AI Translate, in turn, enables simultaneous interpreting for calls and video calls, automatic subtitles in two languages, and translations even without an internet connection—ideal, for example, on a trip.
AI Dynamic Wallpapers can turn a regular photo into an animated wallpaper with a cinematic effect, helping you change what’s on your screen based on your current mood.
A media gallery that understands you
The gallery in HyperOS 3 isn’t just a place to browse photos. It’s a smart tool. Enhanced AI search quickly shows you all the shots of food, landscapes, or “selfies” from your vacation. You can customize the layout, sort photos by ten categories, and AI can even sharpen blurry photos or fill in missing details. All of this is reportedly available offline, directly on the device.
Owners of Xiaomi tablets can look forward to genuinely useful updates. For example, a new 1:9 vertical screen split—perfect when you need to keep a document open while taking notes alongside it. It’s a small thing, but in practice it really helps. Stylus also got improvements—it has lower latency and responds better to pressure, so writing and drawing feel much more natural.
Integration with Apple products and a practical Touch to Share feature
You can launch apps from your Xiaomi phone directly on the iPad. With Home Screen+, the app opens in a window you can customize your way, and it also supports multitasking. For people who work across multiple devices, this is a real “gamechanger”.
Touch to Share is another great feature—by double-tapping both devices, you can transfer photos, files, or a Wi‑Fi password. And yes, it works even between Xiaomi and iPhone, as long as you have at least iOS 17 and the latest app Xiaomi Interconnectivity: so the barriers between Apple devices are broken.
HyperOS 3 also doesn’t forget about security. Xiaomi integrates post-quantum cryptography, meaning encryption designed for a time when quantum computers will be able to break today’s algorithms. Sensitive data like passwords or biometrics is also protected inside a hardware-isolated environment called MiTEE, minimizing the risk of misuse.
Another interesting option is unlocking your Xiaomi device using Touch ID or Face ID from an Apple device.
