More than 20 Xiaomi smartphones from Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO won’t get updated to the latest HyperOS 3. Is yours on the list?

Although HyperOS 3 is already here, not everyone will be pleased with it. Xiaomi is definitely ending software support for dozens of devices from the brands Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO. If you own one of these smartphones or tablets, be prepared that you won’t get HyperOS 3 anymore. For many of these models, it also means the end of all updates, including security patches.

Many stay on HyperOS 2, while others move on with Android 13

HyperOS 3 is built on Android 16 and is another step in Xiaomi’s strategy toward a unified platform across phones, tablets, AIoT devices, and even cars. But not every model is lucky enough to be part of that future.

Some devices will still get HyperOS 2 as their last major update, but HyperOS 3 will definitely pass them by. And this list isn’t only about old models—some still relatively new smartphones that many users actively use are also excluded.

Support will end before the end of 2025, and for some models no later than March 2026. Devices that HyperOS 3 won’t receive and will end support include, for example:

  • POCO F4, F4 GT, F4 Pro, X4 GT, X4 GT Pro, X5 Pro 5G
  • POCO M5, M5s, M6 Pro, M6 Plus, M6 Pro 4G
  • POCO C71, C75 5G, C65, C55, C51
  • Redmi A2, A2+, 12C, 12 5G, 12
  • Redmi Note 12, 12R, 12R Pro, 12S, 12 Turbo, 12 Pro 4G, 12 Pro+, 12 Pro Speed Edition, 12 Explorer
  • Redmi Note 13 4G, 13 4G NFC
  • Redmi Pad SE, Redmi Pad
  • Xiaomi 11T, 11T Pro, 11 Lite 5G NE, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11i, Mi 11 Lite, Mi 11 Lite 5G, Mi 11, Mi 11X, Mi 11X Pro, Mi 11 LE
  • Xiaomi 12X, 12 Lite, 11i, 11i HyperCharge
  • Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold, Mix 4
  • Xiaomi Pad 5, Pad 5 Pro Wi-Fi, Pad 5 Pro 5G
  • Xiaomi Civi

What does that mean for the average user?

Devices that won’t get HyperOS 3 will still work, but without further updates they’ll gradually fall behind today’s technological and security standards. This can impact especially security, compatibility with newer apps, and overall user comfort.

Xiaomi sees it as a natural cycle—even if it can be frustrating for users, especially if they bought the smartphone only recently. On the other hand, there’s still the option to go for alternative solutions like custom ROMs (e.g., LineageOS), which can extend a device’s lifespan and bring a modern system via unofficial means.

If you’re among the owners of devices that won’t move to HyperOS 3, maybe it’s the right time to consider switching. Newer models like Xiaomi 15T, Xiaomi 17, or the upcoming Redmi Note 15 for the global market come with a promise of long-term software support.

For some Xiaomi devices, the story ends sooner than you might expect. Even if the model is becoming “end-of-life,” it doesn’t mean it stops being usable. Still, it’s good to know where you stand and what you can expect from the operating system and its custom layer.
